Currently only available only in the US, FileThis can act as a digital file drawer by retrieving all of your available online documents and receipts, and saving them in your own personal space in the cloud. Available as an online service, FileThis also works as an iPhone and iPad app.
How It Works
FileThis uses bank-level, 256-bit SSL security and encryption and can be used to track correspondance from US companies like Amazon, Comcast, Paypal, Target, Wells Fargo, Citibank, AT&T and many others.
After registering an account with FileThis, you can add your supported web accounts which allows FileThis to download available documents on a weekly or daily basis, depending on which service plan you use. Like the personal financial service Mint.com, FileThis does not allow you to perform actions like withdrawing money from bank accounts or purchasing products on Amazon. If you change the login or password for your connected accounts, you will need to update that information on FileThis.
The documents FileThis downloads can be saved either to your FileThis cloud account, or to another cloud service like Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, or the popular notebook service Evernote.
The FileThis cloud server provides better document management and viewing options than other cloud services. FileThis cloud includes automatic (and manual) tagging of individual documents such as bank statements, insurance policies, utility bills, and the like.
In both the iOS app and web client, downloaded documents can be sorted by accounts, recently added documents, tagged and untagged items. You can select and copy documents to specific “cabinets” with custom labels, such as Home, Financial, Legal, Health, and Vital Records. Downloaded items are also searchable.
Because downloaded files are in PDF format, they can be shared via email, and to other supported iOS apps. The FileThis cloud service works well for managing and viewing documents, but you might prefer to have it save documents to a service like Dropbox which provides more direct access through desktop apps. It’s worth noting however that Dropbox and other similar services don’t include the tagging and sorting options of the FileThis cloud server.
Other Features
The FileThis iOS app is intuitive to use. You can add a passcode lock for security, and you can disable the (automatically on) email notifications for when new documents are added to your account.
The app also displays the amount of storage space available for your chosen service plan, and includes a referral system which adds more storage space to your account.
In addition, the iOS version of FileThis contains an image upload feature for taking snapshots (or importing from your photo library) of receipts and other documents, and manually uploading them to your account. This feature is also available on the web client.
Service Plans
The free FileThis plan allows for up to six account connections, a weekly download of connected accounts and 500MB of FileThis Cloud storage space. For $5 per month, the “ultimate” plan allows for up to 30 connected accounts, with daily downloads, and 10GB of FileThis Cloud storage.A Time Saver
If you need to keep track of records for tax or business purposes, FileThis can be a real time saver and provides an additional backup of your important receipts and documents.Source: www.makeuseof.com
