The 21 Best Websites for Men You Should Know About
The Internet is a vast place. According to internetlivestats.com, there are now almost one billion websites online (a shade over 970,000,000 at the time of writing). Many of those are focused on men, men’s needs, and men’s interests.
We certainly don’t want to stereotype here at MakeUseOf, but suffice to say that the majority of men’s interests fall into certain broad categories – DIY, cars, fishing, fashion, and so on.
Read on to see our list of what we believe to be the twenty one best websites for men (ladies, who knows, you might find something of interest here too!)
Cars
This is possibly the most stereotypical category for men. We’ve had a fascination with automobiles since Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot built the first working self-propelled mechanical vehicle 1770 and Karl Benz built the first motor car in 1885.
Auto Trader
The most widely recognisable website for buying and selling cars. Auto Trader was founded in 1997 and aggregates millions of new and second hand cars. It’ll let you list your car privately, but also offers a way to deal directly with a dealer.
They also have an editorial team who provide a wide range of videos, articles, tips, and advice.
AutoBlog
AutoBlog focuses more on news than buying and selling, though they do have a classified section. Recent articles include everything from analysis of the recently completed F1 British Grand Prix to a review of Chevy’s newest pick-up truck.
Popular Mechanics
Lots of people like nothing more than spending a lazy Sunday in their garage, tinkering with their current car, renovating an old classic, or simply washing and waxing their pride and joy.
Popular Mechanics targets all demographics of car mechanics – from the types who love to lie on their backs under the engine for hours on end to the fair-weather car cleaners.
If you need to know how to fix your car, change a fuse, clean leather seats, install an in-car entertainment system, or fix squeaky breaks – this is the site for you.
DIY
Significant other bugging you to put up those shelves? Not sure where to start when renovating your kid’s bedroom? Need a hand in building a garden shed?
DIY projects can offer great solace from the stresses of daily life – but they can also be immensely frustrating.
Instructables
Instructables started life in the MIT Media Lab, but has since grown into one of the most widely read DIY sites on the web.
The range of topics they cover is huge, from more fun and friendly articles like “How to Make Jello Shots, to the more hard-core “Make a Settee Bench from Two Chairs” and “How to Make a 10 Seater Picnic Table”.
They also offer regular contests, with winners receiving prizes such as spot welders, climate control systems, and digital cameras.
Hackaday
Contrary to its name, going on this site isn’t going to land you on a NSA watch-list.
The site focuses on using everyday objects for something other than their intended purposes. If you want to try and use relay boards to make an automated firework launcher or you want to turn yourself into a bionic man, give them a visit.
Do It Yourself
With a name like doityourself.com, it’s pretty self-explanatory what this site is all about.
They’ve got a range of “How to” guides, as well as articles on tips and advice on which products to use or buy – information on how to choose the right air conditioning unit and how to how to renovate your yard/patio area being two examples.
Technology
Almost all “modern men” enjoy technology. Whether you’re a twenty-something who loves having all the latest gadgets, or a silver surfer who’s still getting to grips with the Internet, there are sites out there just for you.
MakeUseOf

The website has now become so vast that it employs an entirely separate editorial and writing team from the print release, several of whom are regularly featured on radio and television in Great Britain as industry experts.
Fashion
There was once a time when fashion was exclusively the domain of women. Men had two outfits – work and “Sunday best” – what David Beckham was wearing this week was of little concern.
For better or for worse, that’s no longer the case.
oki-ni
Oki-ni (which translates to “thank you” in Japanese) has been online since 2001 and serves as a retail hub for contemporary menswear designers from across the globe.

Cold Climate Gardening
If you live in the US, the UK, or Northern or Central Europe, the sad reality for most of you is that your summer will feel like it’s six days long and your winter will feel like it’s six months long.
With the tagline “Hardy plants for hardy souls”, the Cold Climate Gardening website aims to help people who aren’t blessed with tropical weather maintain a vibrant, interesting, and lively garden.
Sports
“I’ll do it as soon as the game finishes”. Hand’s up guys – how many of you have used that excuse to get out of a trip to your in-laws, the shops, or some other mundane day-to-day activity?!
Bleacher Report

Lots of its content is light on text and easy to digest, making it the perfect one-stop shop for a quick dose of sports news.
Fishing Fury
